so with the advent of the cloud, i'm hoping it will solve the following problem for me:

I've authorised my iphone and ipad with my main desktop pc and manually sync my music and apps to it, reason being its where my music library is. I've also authorised my laptop to my idevices but never sync to it (knowing i'd lose my music) Trouble is, my desktop is showing its age, and i'm going to start using my (slighly less older) laptop for almost everything. i know right now i cant easily transfer over everything, but am i right in thinking that when the cloud comes online i'll be able to sync to the laptop and i'll be able to drag all my app purchases across? I know that wont work for ripped music, and thats fine.

or is there a currently a way to switch pc's without having to repurchase or redownload all my apps?

Basically iCloud, will keep a receipt of the apps you have downloaded from the app store, then when you connect your devices to the cloud you have the option of downloading your purchases. Note this also goes for Books, Music and Videos purchased from the app store.

You can sort this problem out right now by moving your iTunes library to your laptop. See here

Also, the App Store already keeps a receipt of apps that you have downloaded. If you buy an app on the iPhone, you can then click buy on the same app on the iPad and it will download for free. iCloud just makes this easier by automatically syncing to all devices and by showing you a list of purchased apps that are missing from your current device. This feature has already come online and can be used now. Look in the Updates tab in the App Store and in the App Store settings.
