Seriously is anyone listening to these last few minutes? You'd swear Brian Lenihan had cured cancer and climate change.

More proof that State broadcasters are propaganda outlets, behind the benign image.

FF may be gone from office but RTE still knows who really runs the show.

What went on today was outrageous.I couldn't believe my ears with the crap John Waters was coming out with, that was bad enough. Then Sean O'Rourke read out a poem in Irish.
Am I missing something here? RIP and all that but this coverage is disproportionate.

You mean your own suggestion relating to a dead man was quality?

Back into your dark little bunker with the few cans of Dutch gold there now. Good man,

    Anyhoo, back on topic.....

I thought Waters' eulogy today was sickening.
    Maudlin f'ing drivel.
Even Brian Lenihan would have been embarrassed by it.

Yeah I thought it was way over the top.. News At One is meant to tell us the news dispassionately, those poems at the end were just embarrassing..

I found it hard enough to put up with the first poem, but no, they had to do more... totally over the top.

Waters should be locked into a room and played a looped recording of that drivel until he curls up into a ball and shivers with shame.

Very clever choice of hyperbole.:rolleyes:

True and I didn't even think about that angle, so it was unintended. Still he won't care but he'd probably been uncomfortable at such a carry-on in his name. Sean O'Rourke nearly sounded sorry for himself.

Bang on the money, well said

By all means mention his passing talk to colleagues and friends but no poems please.

But then again with FF lackey Sean O'Rourke at the helm it was no surprise:cool:

For all that I disagreed with his policies and the ruination they have brought to the country, I can't help but think that on a personal basis, Brian Lenihan was a modest man. So why RTE felt the need to go ott on the News at One is beyond me, I don't think Brian Lenihan would have approved at all. Of course, John Waters is an egomaniac who would do anything to get on the airwaves but I had respect for Sean O'Rourke until yesterday. The News at One should be exactly that, the News, not puff pieces.

He was a modest man who fought the battle well, but his career and overall contribution to Irish politics was short and sweet certainly not garret Fitzgerald like. RIP

Never saw anything great economically about Garrets political career.I think Brian did his best but his decisions were a disaster for his country and this over the top stuff would have embarrased him and an excuse for some of these idiots to say i knew Brian and look how clever i am because i know greek to.thats the trouble with irish journalism, they think they should be part of the story and if they are not they will crowbar their way in to it anyway a la Sunday Independant.
