Bus from Galway to Portumna

just realised bus eireann don't service portumna at all! are there any alernative routes or how could one get from galway to portumna without a car?

The daily 424 bus from Eyrecourt to Galway via Portumna, Loughrea, Athenry was withdrawn late last year, due to lack of custom. Is it any wonder, when it too nearly 2 hours to get there? On Fridays it took the really interesting route and detoured to Woodford after Portumna, and then went on to Loughrea.

It is has not been replaced by BE, but I understand you can get a Rurul/Local? Link/SE Galway IRD bus to Loughrea and link up with the buses that set down there. Can't find a link to confirm this, but I think Ken Daly might be the supplier of the buses for this.....?
