They never needed laptops or anything before now. But all of a sudden they're fiddling with iPads while presenting the news. They use it for such tripe.
Is this just a new form of product placement:confused:

Apple probably gave them a job lot of them. They need to be seen to be able to do something even if it's nothing at all.

    Pointless things altogether.

I've seen them used by the commentators in F1 too, although it makes sense there as they are walking up and down the pit so not attached to a desk.

With sky it's hard to know whether it's shameless product placement or a shameless attempt to be cool. Either way it's more than likely something shameful.

They've always used laptops and of late they used tablet laptops, didn't realise that they changed over to iPads, makes sense as the battery lasts longer.

I remember the late Andy Gray using one on Monday Night Football too, but he's always had the latest gadgets.

But they stand in front of that giant screen now and need the iPad to change the slide, whereas before it seemed to happen on it own (I presume someone was doing it behind the scenes, no magic here). I think it looks really cheap and tacky.
If anyone has the chance turn on Sky News now, she's being walking around with it in her hand for what reason?

Maybe a real news channel has somebody doing it and she thinks it will rub off?

an ipad so the presenter can change the slide is a lot cheaper than having a man in a room pressing space bar for the next slide.

You mean they hire someone whose sole purpose is just to press a spacebar?!

Feckin' teachers. They didn't tell me about that career in school. :(

But a remote control could have done this years ago.
They're just iPad obsessed. And if I keep seeing them, I will be too. Jesus, I'm already starting thread about them. Apple are marketing gods.

Here's the kicker: that's not an iPad, it's a tablet laptop!!

I reckon it's not purely for function or product placement, more to look modern, edgy and on the ball.

If they were using clipboards, CRT 4:3 tellys and e-machines laptops, it just wouldn't look the part.

You can see it all over the morning shows as well. It's ****ing annoying seeing them with their iPads flicking through stuff.

Nope, As much as I like Apple, an iPad is useless to me.
They're an absolute ripoff, gimmicky and pointless.

It's very hard to look sleek and modern when they still have Eamonn Holmes as a presenter.

For general browsing of the interwebs I much prefer the iPad. It's light, doesn't get hot on my lap and I don't have to deal with a ****ty track-pad.

I agree that overall they're a waste of money though.

They used ipads on WWE Raw too a while back. Yeah, very subtle product placement for something no one needs.
