Budapest - Bamako rally?

    i'm thinking of doing the Budapest - Bamako rally in 2012 or 2013... Has anyone here completed it?
    Have a few reservations regarding safety (especially in Mauritania)... How was it for you? Any tips on essentials for off road driving?
    Would love to hear about your trip!

    I think if you try a site like Wanderlust forums or if Lonely planet have a forum you might get a better response. If you are worried about security I know there are some companies out there which run other rallies and if not a rally an expedition where you do the driving. One such company is http://www.selfdrivenexpeditions.com/ however its 40 weeks long and costs £10,000! There are cheaper options but you will have to ferret the info out yourself.

    Hi hillbenny I just heard about the Budapest to Bamako rally the other day and it is something I would love to do in the future . If there is any way by witch I could get in tough with you would be much appreciated. I am just new to the forum sign up when I seen the posts about the rally hopeing to gain soon information

    ya your right i know there is a coup but the rally is not going to mali this year it finishes in bissau:)
