Hi, not sure if this is the right place to post this but...

over the past few months I have noticed that coffee (i think, I stopped eating cheese so its not that) is giving me extremely painful cramps and diarrhea and constipation too. I think I need to stop drinking coffee full stop. But I dont like milky ordinary (barrys Lyons etc) tea but I do like green tea etc.
What I need is a replacment for coffee throughout my working day, I have one in the morning, then one on morning break, then one on lunch and then one in the evening break too. What herbal teas would you guys recommend to me to drink at these times to give me a perk throughout the day and where should I get them based in Dublin?

Also, am I the only on in the world with this problem?

    Thanks guys!

    I've done this recently myself.

Most supermarkets will have a range. Most are okay (though there's one with ginger which didn't go down well at all). M&S do some nice ones - they have a couple of selection packs so you get to try a few.

By far the winner for me was the M&S Rooibos (South African Red Bush) and Vanilla. It's bloody delicious. And popular I guess as it's hard - fequently sold out.

definitely rooibos, I used to be a 6-7 cup of tea man with loads of milk and 3-4 spoons of sugar in each. haven't had any milk or sugar in my apartment for months now as the rooibos just does the job perfectly and it tastes amazing.

supposedly quite good for stress/anxiety too, but you hear that about every sort of hippy tea.. that it cures everything and costs nothing. The important thing is it tastes delicious, costs around 1.50 or so for 20 teabags in superquinn and doesn't have any caffeine in it.

Ok so you suggest I start with rooibos tea and it should be ok for my insides? (i know, sorry)
I never take sugar in ordinary tea, hardly drink it, makes me feel sick with the taste.
It could be the milk in coffee thats messing with me or something too.

I will drop up to M&S today and superquinn later tonight, grab a pack or two, see how I get on with them for a week or so.
    Thanks guys!

I will drop up to M&S

Pick me up a couple of boxes would you? They had none last night so I'm stuck drinking the coffee in work.

    German coffee.

Germany - not really a nation known for it's coffee.

    For a good reason.

So is Superquinn and M&S the only place to get rooibos?
Could I get it in a Supervalue or Spar, or even a health food shop?

Nah, you'll get some variety of it most places. Even Barry's do a blend. Worth getting it with vanilla though, it's delish.

There was a company in Bray doing a spiced rooibos tea (bit of an acquired taste but very nice) - I just can't remember their name. Used to get it in Tescos.

http://www.palaisdesthes.com/en/ on Wicklow St is excellent for Rooibos tea.

Full listing of Rooibos teas here http://www.palaisdesthes.com/en/aide/lstprd.php?GAMME=1&LIMIT=10&LSTCRIT=(7,42)
I personally like the The Des Vahines and Melange Du Cap.

Best away to prepare it is boil the kettle and leave it for a minute or so to cool to about 95*c, then add 300ml to 4g of tea for 4-5 minutes depending on the strength you'd prefer.
I normally make it in a french press or a tea strainer, those little balls aren't great as the tea can't float about and extract properly.

Whats also worth trying is http://www.palaisdesthes.com/en/tea-shop/mate-vert-125.html Its a high caffeine tea which is great for a morning kick which rooibos lacks.

House of Tea also have a great selection of lovely teas!! They have a store in Rathmines but their online site is also very good. They do a couple of sampler packs as well so you can try out small quantities of a variety of their loose teas. The Rooibos selection is excellent, they do a beautiful Lemon Rooibos. The only problem I have with tea is how hooked on it I got. You start off with one or two teas and all of a sudden realise that you now have 40 different boxes all over the place :D
