Hi guys, first post here so I hope its not a silly question.I am based in Julianstown Co. Meath, and today an Air Corps plane is circling overhead. He heads over Gormanstown diving towards the Sea, and is firing what I presume are live rounds. Then gains altitude before turning and repeating. My question is what type of aircraft do we have, and what ordinance might he be using.I know the area is used for training, and have seen the warning notices.Do they use the base at Gormanstown, or fly up from Baldonnel. Thanks for any info.

They use a PILATUS PC 9M type aircraft. Never heard of firing live rounds though. Gormanstown is now shut as an airfield but I do believe there's still an army compound there but closed to aircraft. Baldonnel deals with the Air Corps now.

They be back, there were active range warnings published in the paper a few days back. So you'll see more of them as each pilots takes his turn.
