what does that budget include? OS, peripherals? etc?

do you already have the monitor? what is the resolution?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭Fiddlex

I have all the peripherals already and the os, I think the resolution is 1920x1080

    Thanks

Thanks for that build looks good, do they accept pay pal? Also yeah I will look for a new case

Edit: actually that case you posted seems good for me so I will look towards the CPU cooler

I have decided to buy from America as the prices are way cheaper and I have family over there who can send me the parts, I just wanted to make sure if these 8gb ripjaws would work in the motherboard chose

    Ram : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311

AFAIK that RAM will work just fine.

Be aware that you could get charged import duty & VAT - regardless of whether it is marked gift or not (if posted).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭Fiddlex

Thanks for the reply, yeah I'm pretty sure it will work it's just that I'm new to building a pc and want to be positive before I commit to buy

I have read up on that, people recommend united states postal service, rather than fed ex because they weren't charged any taxes

One other thing to note is that the second PCI-E slot is x4 which wouldn't be good for crossfire with a second card. Apart from that, it's a good board.

Yeah I only plan on having one gpu, the card I got is the 560ti

What's teh rebate lark I always see, people getting money back off it?

How much cheaper was the build in the US?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭Fiddlex

Not sure about the rebate thing, you gotta mail in a card for that, the build I found is

    Case/psu: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.662146

    Motherboard/CPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.661562

    GPU: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130634

    RAM: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231311

    HDD: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822152185

Total came to 470 euro, but I'm still interested in the build monotype made for me, but would 550w be enough?

    Thanks

Don't get a coolermaster GX PSU, they're not great. Their higher end modular ones are fine. 550W is plenty for a 560ti. A 560ti is also better than a 6870 and the case is a lot better.

I'm kinda going towards your build that you posted for me, my main concern is will the 6870 fit in the Asgard case? Looking at videos the 6870 is quite big..

My main concern about the US is if they will charge vat and duty on it, that would bring the cost up a lot more, plus even the cost of delivering it here...

    It should fit fine.

    From this German site
    http://www.computerbase.de/forum/showthread.php?t=811358
there's enough for the hard drive and the card
    http://www.computerbase.de/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=207813&d=1289129436

But all you have to do is put your HDD in another slot and you'll have plenty of room.
If you want, I can price the stuff again on scan.co.uk again tomorrow. They usually have good deals over the weekend. Their "today only" page gets changed at midday or 1 or 2pm and stays the same over the weekend.

I have this case myself if you need any measurements. Also worth considering is the Asgard III which is back in stock now

Thanks so much for the reassurance , the Asgard III is basically the same price so I should go with that one?

I would really appreciate it if you could price them for me on scan if you have time tomo

Thanks mate you are really helping me out!

    163515.PNG

    ~€550 delivered to Ireland.

The items without a picture are from the "today only" page which will stay there until Monday.
The 955 is out of stock, it says due today.
I picked a different board - downside is that the second PCI-E slot is only x4 so that's not much good for crossfire but the big upside is that it's AM3+ so you'll be able to use the new processors down the line (you could even get a cheap X3 now and get something better when they become available).
That's a pretty decent PSU based on the seasonic S12II. If you want something cheaper, the 500W Silverstone one would do the job.

Thanks for that mate, I think I'm going to go with the first build you posted cause with delivery and pay pal charges it comes to 533 so I am happy with that

Although I really like the am3+ motherboard!

There's a few of them appearing on HWV in the past week.
Here's an Asus one, but it's not as good as scan's gigabyte with only one PCI-E slot. http://www4.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=46233

There's full next generation 970 boards which look good but the but the delivery date is not set. http://www4.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=48268

I'm not ordering my parts until the next few days so I might get the 970 if it comes in stock

    Thanks

Hey sorry to double post but the his hd 6870 went out of stock today, I'm just wondering

Would this xfx be just as good? http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=39467&agid=1004

    Or the asus 6870? http://www1.hardwareversand.de/articledetail.jsp?aid=41505&agid=1004

Also I noticed these two makes don't supply the two 6 pin connectors that is needed, would the psu come with the cables?

    Thanks

Get the Asus. Asus probably have wider locational warranty coverage.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭Fiddlex

In a video I was watching they said xfx had best warranty coverage, my old graphics card was also a xfx 8800gt,

Any way of checking when they will get the his edition back in stock?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,710 ✭✭✭Monotype

XFX had good warranties in that they had double life time warranties (a person who you sell it on to gets a warranty) - I don't know if this is the case or not. The thing is that if you have a problem, AFAIK, there is no XFX centre in Ireland or the UK, so you'll have to ship it a bit further. I have no problem with XFX, but given the same price... asus are well established, so you'd be safer, I think.
I just picked His because it was cheapest. I bought one of their cards before and it worked out ok. Actually, I've used all three brands without problems. The differences are usually minimal.

HWV don't have a time for the His - don't wait for it. Has that XFX one gone down? I thought that they were the same price. Just buy whichever one is cheapest if you want to save your money.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭Fiddlex

All three of them 6870s are the same price, I like xfx so I probably go with that, it's just a pain in the ass that asus and xfx don't supply 6pin power cables, and since this card needs two I got to buy an extra one now... His provided them for me which is what all cards should do in my opinion..

XFX have a pretty dire rep for their European support and warranties (which are vastly inferior to what they offer in the US), but they do make some quality/competitively priced stuff in fairness (espcially on the PSU front) which usually outweigh the small risk of future RMA headaches.

That said for the sake of 3 euro I would definately second the Asus reccomendation.

If the PSU you are getting is the Superflower 550w you are all set, as it comes with 2 X 6 pin Pcie connectors (Two of the pins the 8 pin PCIe power connectors are detachable to make a second 6 pin connector).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 339 ✭✭Fiddlex

Haha ok guys I will go for the asus, I only really was going to go for the xfx because it looked better, but I will trust you guys and go for the asus one,

Oh I do have the super flower amazon 550w, on hardwares site it only listed 1 6pin connector

Edit: oh I didn't know that about the 8pin thanks for that info
