Question about rest days

I recently started a half marathon running program, that contains for the first 4 weeks 3 runs a week, Mon, Wed & Saturday. Each session I do is a good hour sometimes 1hr 30mins, depending on my route and program.

But my question is would it be harmful for me to swim tuesdays and thursdays. This wouldn't be anything intense, just a smooth paced breaststroke and a few minutes frontcrawl, but it can be quite tiring. Would it effect my rest days alot?

Swimming's perfect cross training on your rest days K. It does wonders for aerobic capacity whilst giving your legs a break.

Like Roy says swimming is a great alternative. But a session which in your own words 'wouldn't be anything intense', shouldn't be tiring. If it is, my suspicion would be that you need to improve your swimming.

No harm getting in the pool on rest days, as others have said, it's great cross training - do it! :D

    Excellent! Thanks

And I don't mean gasping for air tiring, I just have a great hunger after it and sometimes can be a little sleepy!
