Is it possible to bargain with jewellers when buying a watch? is there much chance of success or do they just stick to the displayed price?

should also be able to negotiate also if you're paying by cash instead of credit card. Do remember though that precious metal prices are currently at an all time high, so recession doesn't necessarily mean cheaper jewellery. Quite the opposite actually.

The cheaper watches ahve the better profits percentage wise. A high price tissot or raymond weil will have a far low percentage profit for the retailer.

Just a point on that - when you buy gold or whatever watches, the extra price you pay is far, far higher than the value of gold that went into the watch. In other words, margins are actually higher for the maker/seller.
