Best piston/piston head combo for my set up?

    Simply put, what is the best piston/piston head combo for my set up?

    Its a standard JG ver2 gearbox, modified for 7mm bearing bushings, 1j spring, Deep Fire cylinder, standard gears and standard high torque motor, I also plan to remove teeth on the piston and appropriate gear.

    So as you can see its a fairly standard setup, and I'm hoping for an above average ROF/trigger response. What piston would be best? the gear set isn't exactly top of the line so perhaps no metal teeth? and what piston head would match it best?

    I'm ordering from ehobbyasia so it would great if it was available there too.

    Just giving my two cents here, but I think you're looking at a lightweight piston for improved ROF. They are usually polycarbonate from ones I've seen when browsing. I think that element might do a decent one if they're still around seeing as the factory was shut down I think. Can't really comment on an ideal piston head unfortunately.

    If you want an improved ROF I'd suggest a better motor or to invest in a mosfet and better wiring. 16 awg and 18 awg wiring can be good but I managed to squeeze 20 awg (Edit: this is the wrong specification for the wire used) into my M4's version 2 gearbox. The mosfet should improve trigger response. An active braking mosfet is a little bit more expensive than a non-active braking one but it can be quite useful.

    Now, one of the more experienced airsofters or airsoft techs on here would probably be able to give you a better opinion here or correct anything wrong I might of said, but I'm just telling you what I know. Good luck with the search :)

    I managed to squeeze 20 awg into my M4's version 2 gearbox??
    Thats thinner than 16 or 18awg-16awg is ideal-if you are using an element piston be careful- it is safer to file about 2mm off the back of it-some of these have been mis-cast(too long) and caused 'lockups' in some aegs

    Sorry, it wasn't me that called it 20 awg. I'm not sure how that specification system goes as I haven't looked into it personally. But what I do know is that the new wires took a bit of "gentle manipulation" to fit just right and get everything running smooth. Me and my friend did the initial install as he had experience with the specific mosfet and I later made a few layout tweaks in order to get things running smoothly (there were issues at first).

    Sorry about that, I said that it was only what I knew, and that I stood to be corrected if anything was wrong.

    Was'nt intended to be critical(and hope it did'nt sound that way:)) Quite easy to assume the higher number would equate to heavier wire but its actually the other way around!.BTW 16 AWG is plenty for any setup we use in this country,
