Finding it hard to not think about as well, very moving and thought provoking and so sad.

I agree everyone should have the right to choose when and how they die if they have a terrible disease, I just found Dignitas still quite cold even though it's probably the best option out there.

Very hard to watch but definitely worth watching

same with me...last thing i thought of before sleeping and 1st thing when awake.

also had to get up and read a book at 4.30am after waking up and failing to get it out of my read. i feel the hour long documentary fails to do justice to what might answer the questions i had

    - how was he/they so cool? (they've probably said their goodbyes a million times)
    - how were they so cold?

etc etc...not to mention the death scene which was spectacularly poignant given the fact that due to the shortness of the programme and the fact we weren't familiar enough with his struggle and the fact that he was still so articulate...it felt like it was too soon. not that we can comment on his struggle, we have no idea how bad it was.

the sense of anticipation coming up to the moment of truth was nerve-rendering...i felt like a glass of jameson after it...

I agree I found it hard to identify with them because they were so calm and reserved, totally the opposite to how I would be with my partner if we were ever unfortunate enough to be in a situation such as that. I know we would be in absolute pieces and it certainly wouldn't be a moment we would want to share on a couch in a room with other people like that, let along be so calm about it.

But they were an old fashioned well to do english couple and I think how they went about matters was far different to anything we could identify with. It was hard because it seemed to have a lot of life left in him so it felt almost barbaric for him to die at that moment

been mulling this one over pretty much all of today, and still find myself conflicted. me and my wife were talking about it and agreed both of us would want the choice if a degenretive or terminal illness was to befall either of us but both found iot much harder to to imagine the other making that choice. but at least the documentary has opened the debate.....

i have to agree that i found the setting of the apartment really odd but then again i could see the logic behind it.
the whole situation did seem a little cold but i began to think were they to be emotionally invested in every patient who was seeking an end, would anyone ever carry through with it?
did feel like i needed a strong drink after it...although i have the newsnight debate that was on after it to watch yet ( couldn't face it after the documentary)
so may need another this evening
