iPhone 3G Show my Caller ID issue

My problem is that I can't Show My Caller ID using my 3G iPhone.

When I go to Settings/Phone/Show my Caller ID the On/Off buttons are disabled so I can't turn my caller ID on...needless to say lots of people are not answering my calls when they see Unknown!

My operator tells me I have a public number so that shouldn't be the problem.

    Any ideas??

Are you with Vodafone?? Searching in Google found the following post, looks like it's a Provider issue. I assume other providers will have the same setup. 3, O2, and Vodafone are in Boards, on the Biz, Talk to..., you can try posting there.

If that doesn't help and the iphone has jailbreak with Sbsettings install try to install "Caller ID SBSettings Toggle" from Cydia and enable it from there, it might not work but worth to try.

Other than that I will say a restore might fix it, just test it before accepting the Carrier settings download after the restore.

Cheers for the reply Nava. Just found that Vodafone support forum after I posted here and posted a question there so hopefully they can sort it. Shame the customer support who I rang were not aware of this issue
