Sky - New Customer? maybe not

Got a call from Sky today, was all near signed up as a new customer, a free HD+ box and a free multiroom box with a sub of €43 a month and free installation. All going great until she came back to me and said she couldn't do the deal as I left Sky as a customer 14 months ago, instead I now had to pay €149 plus installation and a monthly sub of €48

Sky lost a sale and a customer today after that.

Normally if you have cancelled Sky and return after 12 months then you're regarded as a new customer. They also generally do great 'welcome back' deals.

You could be cheeky and ring back saying you got a call asking would you go back to Sky-I know one person who got free install and 12 months half price for returning to Sky.If that fails just sign up through an independent or use a different name.

Unless you want/need sky movies/sports you could find freesat+ is a good alternative.

There seems to be alot going on with sky at the minute in the background. They've moved away from pleading with you to keep your current package. If you ring and cancel, it's now cancelled after 4 weeks.
On another note I heard that Finlay's no longer have the installation contract for ireland that it's been given to sierra communications? Anyone confirm. Finlay's had it wrapped up as far as I was concerned??
