I just bought a 05 Toyota Avensis and am wondering do the rear seats fold on this model? Its a strata saloon 1.6 petrol. I've had a look and it doesn't seem to fold but in the manual, which is a bit crap, it shows the seats folding in the sedan model and station wagon, american terms for saloon and estate.

Because the Strata is the typical Paddy spec poverty spec model, the answer to your question is no I'm afraid:).

The strata didn't get folding seats till the 2006 facelift.
Luna models, liftbacks and estates had them from the off.

Cheers guys, not happy about it but what can you do. I find the fold down seats almost compulsory on any car i buy and presumed they folded on all decent saloons, not something I ever thought of checking out.

Ouch. I'm surprised to be honest. I've a 04 5 door, and the seats fold flat. Button should be fairly obvious at the top of each seat, near where the sides. Seat itself lifts up, the folds up towards the front. Have to remove the rear headrests, but once that's done, my hatch back turns into a flatbed!

Yeah I knew they folded on the 5 door model and presumed they did on the saloon:mad:

Does your car have a solid bulkhead behind the rear seats OP? If not it might be possible to fit the folding rear seats from a newer model. You should be able to source them from a dismantlers.
