Hey folks, my girlfriend and I are spending 5 weeks in oz; we're starting in melbourne, a few days there, flying to sydney a few days there and then up the coast. What I'm enquiring about is whether we should fly from Sydney up the coast or just drive/use public transport given our restricted time span.

    Any opinions greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Hey,

To save some time you could probably fly from Sydney to Brisbane and then get the greyhound bus the rest of the way to Cairns. Most of the good stuff on the east coast is from Brisbane up. The only thing you would really miss out on is Byron Bay or Surfers Paradise but you probably do these in a day trip from Brisbane.

    Hope this helps.

We booked flights to brisbane and weire gonna hit surfers from there; with only five weeks, we wanted to spend the least amount of time on the road as possible!!

Another quick one, rucksack or standard wheelie bag? We're not essetially 'back-packing', so i'm wondering is there any need to invest??

    Cheers again folks!!

Also, plus the flights were SERIOUSLY cheap!!
