Hi all,Im off travelling southeast asia in July and August and Im wondering what is the best currency to bring plenty of?Is it true that it would be the U.S dollar? Is that valid in Thailand also?
If anyone can give me any tips for this trip it would also be greatly appreciated! It is just myself and my boyfriend going and we are visiting Beijing, Thailand,Laos and Vietnam, spending 8weeks travelling altogether!thanks in advance! ;)

Euros are just as good in asia as the US dollar you will be able to change them everywhere, i would bring some US dollars if you need to get visas while there.

Euros are interchangeable all over however it still helps to have a few American dollars, each country uses its own currency and when I was in Thailand it was the Thai baht they used,

Don't go taking wads of cash over there because it could get stolen, my US dollars got stole in Thailand and ironically they were my contingency fund encase my wallet and credit cards etc. got stolen!

Don't take cash.. Worries over theft will take away from the enjoyment of your trip massively.

the laos kip is only valid in laos dont bring into thailand or vietnam with you,
my friend ended up with $20 work of kip..trying in hostels to sell it to travellers is a pain..dunno bout the dong
basically except for thailand trty leave the country with as little cash as possible.

i brought 200euro as emergency cash..

your atm card will get u the local currency and there's heaps of atms everywhere in se asia.

if u have a student account its e1.27 per withdrawl which is cool
aib have a daily withdrawl limit of 100euro in some countries(all se asia i think)
    with their debit card.
this can be a major pain also..i didnt have a credit card.
    hope this helps.

in cambodia, laos and thailand and its e250 now here in oz..
that rule came in mid feb when i was in cambodia and gave me
