    From Macrumors:
    Q: Dear Mr. Jobs,

Will I need to find an alternative website builder and someone to host my sites?

I have invested a lot of time and effort and the thought of re-training sucks more than mobileme ever did.

    A: Yep.

    Sent from my iPhone
Not a big surprise after the announcement of iCloud, but a pain for anyone who uses it. Anyone going to be affected by this?

I thought that iWeb had been killed off a few years ago, or was that just the hosting part?

No, the hosting service is part of MobileMe and will continue working for another year. iWeb hasn't been updated since 2009, but this the first we've heard about it being discontinued.

I think that was bound to happen after this speech. :)
Mr. Jobs reportedly asked the assembled engineers and other MobileMe team members, “Can anyone tell me what MobileMe is supposed to do?” When one of those employees then volunteered a satisfactory answer, Mr. Jobs followed up with, “So why the fuck doesn’t it do that?”

He then spent some 30 minutes berating the team, telling them that they had “tarnished Apple’s reputation,” and that they, “should hate each other for having let each other down.”

I don't know many that use it, the only functionality I entertained was being able to lock and erase your iphone remotely. I am presuming they will hang onto this?.

Find My iPhone? Yeah, they've been offering that free for a while now.

Thats the one, I know its free alright. Though doesn't it fall under the MobileMe bracket?. I presume this feature will stay?

It used to fall under MobileMe, but not really anymore since it's free. But yeah it will stay.

You don't need MobileMe to host your iWeb websites, iWeb also works with other services such as DV Host. Any company that supports FTP should work.

    So no need to panic...

So if MobileMe goes, what'll happen to the email??

You keep it. Everyone gets a free @me email address as part of iCloud. I'm not sure what will happen with people who created multiple email accounts as part of MobileMe, but I'd imagine they'll probably be able to keep them as well.
