Inquest, 6mths after final death cert?

Hi All, My dad passed away over 8mths ago. Final death cert issued about 6mths ago - my mum got a call today ( obviously completely shocked ) saying that there would now be an inquest due to toxicology levels ( he had a long term illness so was on a rake of medication ) What is the procedure here? Can't get my head around…
