Looking at a 2005 3.0 with 96K Miles and a 2006 2.7 with 80K miles both Quattro. The 2.7 looks better, nicer wheels and has the F1 paddle shift etc. Both TDI.

What are these like as a daily driver? Mostly M way with country roads on the weekend. Any issues?

Who in the south (Tipp/Cork/Kilkenny) look after these without costing an arm and a leg?

    Thanks for any advice,

    TX

    A6 saloon.

But I might have to for-go the 2.7 as the VRT is higher than I expected. The 3.0 is in Dublin.

Most of the 2.7's weren't quattro, so if that's a factor make sure the one you're looking at is. Aside from that, if the 2.7 has the newer DSG box, which it probably does if it has the paddles, then go for that unless the 3 litre is a manual... cause the older auto box in the 3.0 is both slow and unreliable.

There are 2.7's available in the UK some with paddles. Most here in Ireland are 3.0 ( at least in my price range Euro15K). Either have Auto or tip-tronic.

What year 3.0's are good here?

    Thanks for advice.

I can't comment on the 2.7 but can on the 3.0. I've put up 200k on mine without an issue. Fantastic engine, imo, and super smooth gearbox. It is absolutely not slow (car or gearbox) and has certainly not been unreliable. Also, don't think the 3.0 was ever available in manual.

The only issue I've had has been the servos on the rear wheels for the electronic handbrake sticking - I've replaced both rear ones, but again with 200k on the clock I'm not complaining. The only other thing to watch out for is brake pads - it eats them like a pig and they aren't cheap.
