Its a long story, but I've been asked to see if can identify this 'Irish Soldier'. The person requesting this assures me that he is Irish. To me the photo looks a bit more like a PR shot?

Any help would be really appreciated.

    Conor

That does not look like even the old Irish uniform, unless there was a time many eons ago (we're talking pre 90s) where Battalion Sergeants Major had braided rank insignia on the jumpers and not red stripes.

Unfortunately, there is a black unisex cardigan in the US Army uniform system.

It's so unpopular, it's almost impossible to find a picture of it.

He wouldn't be allowed the Soul patch if he was in the PDF, would he? unless he was "excused shaving" just that wee bit, haha.

100% certain that he's not a soldier, not to mind Irish.

Thanks for that everyone. Even my own thoughts was that It wasn't Irish. Anyway, seemingly this fella (claims Irish relations) was in the US military.
Contacting people on f/book to be friends and then has a yarn about a very sick child with a heart complaint. Then asks for money (donation) to be sent to Malaysia!

So, the people contacted just wanted to see if anyone by chance knew him here. (Girl he contacted wit the story happened to work for the Dutch police, how unfortunate is that!)

I think that's boxed off now.

    Thanks,

    C

I'd love a cardigan as part of my uniform, the smoking jacket & slippers I wear on duty are so British officer WWII :p
