But... but... it's not an M3!

There is nothing M3 about it. Looks like a fairly standard SE to me.

just thinking same.. what the feck does an M3 pack add.....:confused:

    M3 Pack ??

It appears to have M Sport Steering wheel, but the seats arent sport neither are the front / rear bumpers ?

What makes it M3 pack ? the white leather.

On the plus side, the miles are good ( providing they are the miles ) check the steering wheel wear and gearknob.

Decent leather and nicer wheels than most.

Otherwise it's a bog standard 318i by the look of it.

    "M3 pack" indeed.

High road tax. The market went nearly totally diesel shortly after this one, and it will affect it's future value (rightly or wrongly).

Oh and it's not an M3.

Well i have about 20000 to spend, so any other recommendations would also be welcome.

Spend a lot less? Loads of value out there.

Keep the balance (possibly under the bed in a blue chip currency).

    €302 isn't that high.

what is it you are after??

speed? power? comfort? low running costs? is insurance and tax an issue for you?
is there an age you wont go buy??

personally if i had 20k to speand on a car would spend 10k - 12k on a big ass Luxobarge and use rest for tax :)

    something like this

Why is this always suggested here, if someone has set aside how much they want to spend why try to put them off and tell them to buy something for much less.

Petrol, btw 1.8 and 2.0 litre, tax and insurance not an issue but would like something 2008 or after.

That 318i was a limited edition (end of model) pack that was available for 6-8 months in 08, consisted of upgraded wheels, leather as standard, sports steering wheel and gearstick and parking sensors all for approx 38k as far as i can remember !! These were'nt an added cost/extra at the time they all came standard so nothing M about it at all tbh

That's the pre facelift Business Edition model. Decent spec on those - Leather, Upgraded wheels, M-Sport Steering wheel and gearknob, but I wouldn't touch one of those with a bargepole.

Avoid the BMW 316,318 & 320 effecient dynamic petrol models like the plague.

does it _have_ to be petrol? :)

I'd love one of those alfa gt jtd's at that budget (with change)

They sold like hot cakes back in 08 so will be worth feck all in another 2 years !! and your correct the fuel economy is attrocious despite "efficient dynamics"
I'd me more inclined to sway towards the same model but in a 318 diesel

Fuel economy is fairly decent on them, because they spend more time in the dealers than on the road, getting new coils or injectors.

BTW, they are worth feck all now in comparison to the Diesel models.

Petrol models (especially 316/318) are sluggish and heavy on petrol, trust me i've driven plenty of them as i worked for BMW

Ya i don't want to go diesel. Love Petrol. Mad to change car. Clearly going to avoid this car so looking for something else me thinks. Audi, Volkswagen Passat....

Specification isn't as good as the BMW, and it's pretty pricey, but we had a couple of these on fleet. One made it to 170,000km with nothing more than standard servicing and tyres, so they seem pretty reliable.

    Uninspired choice though.

Good value to be had in the Mondeo Titanium X 2.0 Petrols. Tax is fairly high and the resale will be pants, but if you plan on keeping it a while it's worth a look.

How about a new shape Honda Accord:

    http://www.driving.ie/usedcars/index.cfm?fuseaction=car&carID=201120202424296

Petrol engines are practically bomb proof and the spec on the Executive model would shame most of the German stuff in the same price range.

Wow that accord looks amazing, thanks.

LMAO @ "M3" with one exhaust, a 1.8 petrol engine etc.

It doesnt even have the full m-sport pack let alone be an M3.

I can't get over the interior of that 3, so thats what it looks like upgraded? I'd hate to see one in stock form; it looks as bland and ordinary. Also, black seat backs? It looks like kids put it together.

Look again, the speedo is km/h. It's Irish.

 How do you work that out? The only photo you can see any figures in is the last one, where it shows 21,223 miles on the clock...even though the ad states 13,049 miles

That also has one of those extremely troublesome Efficient Dynamics petrol engines, so much and all as I think a BMW is not a 'proper' BMW without the necessary six cylinders, this car should also not be touched with a forty foot bargepole.

Look at the speedo itself, not the figures... I know the mileage is shown as 21,223 miles but that's a digital reading and you can set that to show kilometres or miles depending on how set your preferences on the OBC. The speedo is km/h.

EDIT: The speedo is the one on the left. If it had MPH it would have two sets of graduations. MPH on the outside and smaller km/h graduations on the inside. This one only has a single band of graduations which would be km/h only.

+1 - the speedo is clearly a kph one. BMWs have been able to show either miles or kms for the mileage for a good seven or eight years now - cars with mph clocks can show mileage in kms and vice versa.
