What way do you brush your teeth?

Just read an article there on yahoo saying that the majority of people across the world are brushing their teeth incorrectly. What way should it be done??

I brush mine properly.

But not enough according to dental recommendations (after every time you eat aswell as the normal morning and night)

I use a toothbrush with one bristle.

It takes a lot of time but the results are amazing, I highly recommend it.

I do front back and sides

I have floss, and get into it for a few days every now and then but it hurts the sides of my mouth! Like the corners of my lips. So I stop. And I have mouthwash and I use that sometimes as well.

If you have mouthwash, why do you have to floss as well, does anyone know?

Im fairly sure not everyone has the chance the brush after every meal. Morning and night, yes

I always start with the back teeth on the right hand side of my mouth moving left and right, then the same on the left hand side, then the front teeth. Then I switch to an up and down motion. Following this I go free style for a few seconds.

I normally do this while I'm standing up.

Electric toothbrush and floss for me, find it much better than a manual brush and don't have to get the dentist clean as often. Admittedly, I should change the head more often, but who remembers when they last changed toothbrush anyway, usually change it when I feel the bristles are weak.

JK, I scrawb the feck out of my teeth with my lovely toothbrush, followed by flossing, and mouthwash. Hence, shiney teeths.

That's strange, a dentist once told me we should brush our teeth in a straight vertical pattern.

Her reasoning was that cleaning our teeth was like cleaning a kitchen table that has long, linear grooves in it. If we brush from side to side, or in a circular motion, we are only trapping sugars and food particles into these grooves. if we brush with long vertical sweeps (along with flossing) we eliminate these particles.

Well it has always worked for me, and I have never had a filling nor an extraction, so I think I am going to stick with it.
