    Anyone here using CyanogenMod?

I used to run CM6 on the phone, but went back to stock some time later, however the other day I upgraded to the the CM7 nightly build #98 and flashed the Tiamat v4.0.5 kernel. Im now using the "smartass" govner. Its only been two days but it looks like I am having a nice battery life improvement. Can update on that at the end of the week as its too early for a conclusion.

Am pleased overall now with the ROM, integrated trackball alert customization is pretty cool. Power widget in notification area, FM radio, all good. Apps to SD, so I now have 120MB free on internal storage, as opposed to 30MB. Music controls on the lock screen, trackball wake etc.. and the list goes on and on.

    So anyone else tried it?

Also can anyone recommend any nice widgets for some eye candy? or recommend any themes for the t-mobile theme manager?

Oops, though I put this in the Android section, but obviously didn't. I guess this will be moved so. Sorry.

Just to update. Getting about 36 hours of battery life now.

That's with Gmail and Facebook sync constantly on, Google talk signed in. 3G, moderate internet browsing. Battery is 14 months old.

Yeah, I just switched from VillianRom (which is based on CM anyway) to CM7 on HTC Desire. It's only been a few days so wouldn't know for sure but it does seem like I've got a fair amount of extra battery life on it since switching.

Very, very good ROM anyway. Rock solid and good community support.

I like the 'Go' range of apps. Go Launcher, Go Contacts, Go SMS, etc. Free and definitely worth a look.

Its a kernel that aims to improve efficiency, and preserve battery life without compromising performance.

There is other ones also, but this kernel works best for me on cm7, nightly #98.

Also there is an app called Kernel Manager if you don't feel comfortable flashing this manually.

Is it likely to mess anything up if I choose a wrong Kernel? I see vorkKernel-CM is the most popular... maybe I'll try that.

Might try and new kernel and see what happens.

Is it Ok to install a new Kernel at any time or will it delete everything off my phone, sd card, home PC and all of my cloud storage?

Whatc about GPS? Are you using any battery manager like JuiceDefender?

I switch from HTC Sense to CM6 about 4 months ago on my Desire. Coupled with JuiceDefender, definitely noticed a better battery life. Too lazy to re-flash to CM7.

    Never heard of that one.

Just do a nandroid backup, do a full wipe, then flash the new kernel.
I have no issues with #98 nightly and tiamat v4.0.5

Didn't use gps, but its enabled so will use gps if any app requests it. Didn't use any battery app. Just used clockwork mod recovery to wipe my battery stats when i had it fully charged. There is apps to do that also.
