Aim Assist?

Two of the better players I play with swear to me they have disabled the Aim Assist as they feel it's a hinderance more than a help. I know one of the NGT directors accidentally turned it off and couldn't understand why he'd turned shy*e overninght. Wondering what y'all think. Anyone play with it disabled?

I've it on because I've never bothered (nor wanted) to try playing with it disabled. It's only on a rare occasion I'll be aiming at player A and player B will run across and cause me to focus on him.

I'd imagine if you got good without using it , you would benefit more. But I never really bothered turning it off. Seems like a bit of a "Oh you play with aim assist ? Are your thumbs broken or ?" kind of thing.

I use no aim assist when rushing with an SMG, shotguns and a couple of other guns. I like the feeling of having entire control over my gun especially when rushing without having to suddenly pull towards another target in say a potential multikill scenario when that person isn't the one I wanna lock on to. My scores overall are still probably pretty similar with or without aim assist but I do think in those 3+ kill moments I survive a lot more.

I'm so bad at the game it doesn't make any difference.

I play FPS's on PC but when I play on console with friends, I've never noticed it! Is it always automatically on??

It's default setting is on. Like Lee said you don't often notice it but it apparently makes a big difference for us scrubs :)

I've not really tried it off, but i cant see why it would be better without.. maybe up close it could be a bit better as you'll not get that anoying assist when enemies cross each other, but at mid range not having it would be silly. Especially vs a moving target.

Ah here, I for one am not saying that anyway. Just give it a whirl for day or even a couple of hours, and you'll struggle. I know I did. My brother was using my account a while back and had turned it off. Took me a good while to get used to it (and realise it was off as well as the sensitivity was 9 compared to 3-4 I use :o). You certainly do feel a difference and takes time getting used to. As I said, in those 3+ kill scenarios I'm winning far more these days so it's been beneficial to me in the long run.

Maybe it's just me who noticed the slight pull. I find it off putting at times.

Nah, I know. It's the guys I play with are giving me a hard time over it. Point you make about a rushing class makes sense actually. I'll give it a go but my accuracy isn't great at the best of times and I just know it's gonna frustrate the fk out of me. May as well preorder a new controller so :(

Tell them to kiss your arse ! Your really not gonna get any better without it so its no point taking it off.

Just remember, it really does take a lot of time getting used to. If I had realised what my brother had did earlier I would have switched back but because that first week was some of the worst gaming I've put in as far as I can remember. I'm in impatient sod too, was close to needing to buy a new pad I won't lie :pac:

My accuracy is fairly meh, like high 16% compared to 18 - 25 in MW2 and COD4 respectively. Probably because I fire pre + hip more in BOPS than previous COD games, that and I've not really sniped since 2nd prestige.

I went into combat training last night with it off against 'hardened' bots . Only found it different at long range

I had it off on Black Ops when I played it, you cant turn it off on MW2 though? Its kinda cheating when you're sniping someone who is behind a bush and the cursor centres on him even though you cant see him, its like being able to see through walls, or when you use a mounted turret on MW2, just point and once the cursor shakes let rip, bam, instant kill most of the time

Some would suggest they shouldn't be hiding in a bush in the first place :)
