Hey! I need your help with my hair. Its shoulder length and the roots are always like this, no matter what I do:

Think its from years of constantly wearing hair bands! Sorry for the massive pic.

Now I want to get my hair cut up short like this:

Will it bw possible for my hairdresser to change the direction of my roots?

I really hop ye understand what I mean!!:p

    Sugarbomb,

I think that if you want to change the direction of your roots you should play around with some partings! :) Middle parting is plain, I like a little side parting or fun zig zag partings. Sometimes if you wear your hair down enough and try and keep the parting your hair will naturally adjust to the new parting/style you want it in!

Thanks, I'll try that. But do you think that if I asked my hairdresser to cut hair like that she could? My hair has always been like this and I need a change.

She should be able to! :) She is a hair dresser after all! Is your face like Carmen Electra's (first pic) or like the model in the second pic? Sometimes when you get your hair cut your face shape might not suit it (or you think yourself it might not suit it - I've been in this position a few times!)

Just be careful with a drastic change, as if it's cut up short it will take a while to grow back! :)

Let me know how you got on!!!

Think I'll ask my hairdresser if it will suit me. I feel I need a change. Will propably chicken out though and get the usual trim. Thanks for all your help!!

Sugarbomb, think VERY carefully about chopping your hair off as I made that mistake a few months ago as I was sick of having the same hair and now really miss my long hair-can't wait for it to grow back!

Ya know, I was flicking through photographs on Facebook a few days ago and I noticed that every couple of months or so, I'd have a different parting! But I never purposefully tried to change it! :pac: Some mornings I must have woken up and just forgotten what to do with my hair when I got outta the shower! So I'd say you will be able to change your parting. :)

I'd say unless you have a cow's lick you'd be OK! I've battled for years with a cow's lick at my hairline (and I've a fringe so a much harder battle) and it's very difficult. Practise different partings like others have suggested, but just be aware that the shorter hair means that the weight won't be there to hold it down in the 'wrong' parting!! Hair can get trained though!

I've decided to keep it long. My brother got engaged so I'll want long hair for the wedding. I'll get layers to take the bulk out of it and I'll play around with the parting a bit. Thanks for all the replies!!

why not leave it long and get some layers or shorter pieces at the front? And yes you should definately be able to change the root direction. I had a middle parting for years and always did (and still do because of playing sport) tie my hair back in a ponytail.

I got my parting changed to a more off centre one and cut the front of one side as a shorter diagonal layer in front and its great. It means while I tie my hair back I have a piece thats about eye / ear length that stays out and ads a bit of volume to my fine hair, It took a few days of 'training' it to sit that way (I'd blow dry just the front with a bristel brush) but its grand now!
