Wireless speed dropping?

I recently got 18mb adsl2+ in oz. when I do a speedtest for the wireless I'm getting between 4mb and 14mb and everything in between with the last couple of tests. The ping is usually 44 for the higher speeds and 110 for the slower speeds. I also use flashget for downloads and the graph shows a steady speed then drops out…

I recently got 18mb adsl2+ in oz. when I do a speedtest for the wireless I'm getting between 4mb and 14mb and everything in between with the last couple of tests. The ping is usually 44 for the higher speeds and 110 for the slower speeds.

I also use flashget for downloads and the graph shows a steady speed then drops out for a few seconds every few mins.

When I connect through the rj45 port through the router though I'm getting 18mb. anyone know why this might be and what I could do to fix it?
