Interesting at looking at the whole range of Apple certified courses available in Ireland, from the IT and Pro App courses to the iWork courses.

Would like to know other people's experiences of the courses as well as the benefits of doing such courses in respect of gaining employment.

I am an avid Apple enthusiast who would like to pursue a career in Apple technology

    Thank you in advance.

I can see why someone would do a Microsoft cert as they are expected - are these certs expected or even worth it?

Well there is a few I suppose perhaps if they offer a programming certification, any server courses and they have a few media ones with aperture and final cut etc.

    Thanks for the replies.

I would really like to hear from anybody who has completed an Apple certified course and whether they found it worthwhile.

    Thank you in advance

if I were you I'd approach someone like CompuB, they seem to be the only ones hiring. if you are any good there will be plenty of opportunity to do training courses with them

From my initial research there appears to be very few providers of Apple certified courses. The providers are as follows:
    Big Wave Media.
    Pulse College.
    Stream.ie
    Film Base.
    Dara Linn.

Has anybody taken part on any Apple certified courses provided by any of the above named providers.

    Thanks

Not sure your sure what your after, training in iword etc? Most I'd even say nearly all IT professionals learned their craft on a pc not a mac. A lot of design professionals would have trained on Mac, probably the most common software the use are Adobe products.
I don't know what your career ambitions are but if it's IT related you should start with some Microsoft Certified Training. If it's to use mac's in business you should probably look at getting adobe certified.
Using iword and numbers would be of no real advantage to you. Being a whizz on microsft word and excel on the other hand would be of benifit employers .

Agreed, if your getting certified unless out was apple programing our final cut etc I wouldn't bother worth any simple certs.

Poor Holyfield, I feel your pain!

Apple training in Ireland is a mess because it is driven by demand. Also Apple have several streams of training. Pro Apps for individual applications like Final Cut, Technical training on Hardware and software for IT support, They divide their training according to audience ( IT professional, Designer, Trainer). So you have ACSE, Pro Apps training, ACMT, ACTC, ACT. I am not explainining it very well because its confusing. I have a training matrix somewhere which explains it better, will try and find. This is a starting point.

I have no personal experience of Apple Certified training but have attended Apple Tech Series so I assume there is a reasonable standard required to be approved. Here is an example of a Certified Trainer ( I know nothing about them ). I know someone who used Pulse for Pro Tools training and they were happy with the results. They also do Apple Training.

Apple training is no different from any other computer company. Courses are expensive , buy the book from Peachpit and do the online exam is a cheaper option (for this certified course). I have no Apple certification and have been repairing and supporting them for 15 years.

Going to the open night in Pulse College tonight to see what their facilities and Apple courses are like.

Is there any other open nights for Approved Apple Training Centres ?

Went to the open night in Pulse College on Tuesday. I was very impressed with their set up and approach.

Has anybody else got any views or comments on Apple certified courses ???
