Just after seeing this article from the Irish Examiner and wondering is it true!? What could you face if caught dealing with online piracy? P.S I'm not interested in starting anything but I' just curious!

As far as I know if a company has evidence of you transmitting (uploading) copyrighted material they could take civil action against you for distributing their copyright product, there is no case that I'm aware of a person being brought to court for downloading only.
It appears you need to be in the act of transmitting the material ie via P2P to be a target. Tbh though I wouldnt worry too much about it as I do not think a IP address/time and date is effective evidence that you distributed the material. And with many of Eircons modems still using a crackable WEP password putting the blame on the internet billpayer is asking for trouble, not to mention an ISP would only be allowed tell an organisation who was behind an IP address with request from the court, due to data protection afaik

I stand corrected with this but I think thats the process

    Nick
