Hello folks. Long time follower first time poster.

I just bought a tube amp on ebay. weighs 45 pds. The seller had collection only, but I agreed with them that they would package the amp securely if I arranged my own courier.

So a couple of questions. Is there any goto couriers that you have used that do a good job(i.e. get it here safely). And who have been the cheapest in your experience.

Getting it here fast is not a priority, but getting it here for a good price and safely is of course.

Also , any do's and don'ts I should be aware of. Any advice would be very appreciated. Cheers

Most of the deliveries I've had from the UK have been with DPD (formerly known as Interlink). They have bases all over Ireland as well so you'd be able to keep an eye on its progress fairly easily. You could try getting a quote from them first anyway.

Another company worth trying would be Fastway :

Make sure that the amp is extremely well packaged. Take out the tubes and out them in a seperate box so they don't smash. Possibly put some newspaper in and around the speaker so as it doesn't get damaged.

Thanks lads. I'll definitely check out those couriers and hopefully the seller will take out the tubes for me and wrap them up. i'll definitely ask him

    Cheers.

Just to wrap up this thread........

I eventually went with DPD, well, interlink direct but same thing really.

The seller packaged the amp well, removed the tubes and boxed them seperately.

The amp landed in perfect condition . no issues. Cost 35 sterling for anyone who may be doing the same sometime.

The amp did seem to go missing for a day,and I couldn't track it online.only when I rang could they tell me where it was. It eventually landed 2 days late.It didn't bother me really. As I said in 1st post I was more interested that it got here safely, and no doubt that it did.

Thanks for the input stetyrrell and teekayd25, I took both your advice and it worked out for me. Cheers lads.
