Hi, im just about to undertake a bit of tiling. First off Ive been told to put a tanking system in the shower. How do I go about doing this.

Also ive self leveled my kitchen with self leveling compound(bog standard stuff not the ardex one) Do I need to prime slc before i put the tile down

Tanking system comes in a kit - primer and water proof coat.
If you can paint, well then you can tank!

Also - you can polybond the floor in the kitchen prior to putting tiles down.

I recently tanked an upstairs bathroom, I plylined the floor to give extra strength and to create the fall towards floor trap the and used paint on rubberised tanking paint with the fibre reinforcement over joins in the ply and the edges.
For the shower part I used Schluter Kerdi membrane stuck down with tile cement and overlapped by 150mm and covered the whole area that could see water.
The more layers of waterproofness you have the better IMO.

Cheers lads, Did a bit of homework on this and the ardex wpc is the one im gonna go for, looked at the demo and looks fairly easy to do. I thought it was gonna be a little more complex to do, but looks easy. I presume it would be grand over a new house paintjob(white prime coat) once the ardex primer is used.

As for the floor, is polybond mixed at 1:4 with water all i will need to roll on before I tile it? And will an hour or two between pvc and adhesive be ok

    cheers
