Hourly cost of lessons

After checking around half a dozen or so schools I have noticed a huge difference in the cost of an hourly lesson. I have had figures quoted from €30, €35, €40 and €56 per hour. I was guilty of not doing my homework on this and opted for the first school I came across which happened to be to most expensive one. I shouldnt think I will be staying with them though after seeing the huge disparity in price. Would like some input from both instructors and students on this as to what people think is generally acceptable.

I had my first lesson today and it was €35. I didn't ring around at all (I chose based on his location - which is 5 mins from my house) so I don't know what others in the area are charging.

Aye, your price seems to be more the norm. I am just baffled as to how a school could charge so much more than the others for the same product. I presume all instructors must be trained to a certain DoT/RSA standard. Granted some could have more training again but I dont see how that justifies the massive price disparity for a school.

First company I was with was €40 an hour, second company ended up being 3 lessons for €105. Around the Terenure/Rathfarnham area of Dublin.

To be honest the price of the lesson is second after the teacher. I mean you can get a cr*p teacher for 50e+ and a brilliant one for 30+. I remember my lessons being at the 37e mark and the instructor was fantastic. Different strokes I suppose.

But because there are private schools you're going to get the ones who will put on deals to beat the opposition.

€56 for a one hour lesson is scandalous imo
