Abortion views male/female?

    I don't really want to get into an intense abortion debate, as they tend to end up becoming quite emotional, and are quite tedious.

    I was just wondering if men and women hold similar views on the topic.

    For the purpose of the poll-

    'Pro-life' can include, or exclude exceptions in extreme cases.
    'Pro-choice' refers to the woman's right to choose.

    My own opinion on the matter;

    I am female, and out of the options on poll, I would choose pro-life, but with exceptions.

    Exceptions for me;
    • Where the woman's life is or would be endangered to continue with pregnancy
    • Where the child's (or embryo or fetus) life is or would be endangered, or if they had a medical condition in which would cut their life drastically short or cause them severe pain (Such as Harlequin Ichthyosis - A horriffic skin condition. **Warning** - Don't google it if you are easily upset).
    • Where rape, especially of a minor, is involved.

    Male,

    If i got a girl pregnant i would personally prefer that she kept the child but would support her either way.

    In fairness it's a much bigger decision for the woman than the man.

    It shouldn't be pro-life or pro-choice. Just pro or anti choice.

    Nobody wants to ever have an abortion. I never would, but I don't feel I have the right to dictate that to someone else..

    Why start a thread about it then...

    OP as well intentioned as your post was I don't think AH is the right forum for the discussion. Perhaps try humanities if you're looking for people's views on it.
