Yup, they're in black packets down in the sweets aisle for 99 cent each. Never bought them for myself because I hate pork scratchings but have bought them numerous times for my ex. If you'd like, I can double check tomorrow and let you know for definite :)

The Cheers off-licence in Ballinteer (Dublin 16) sells them intermittently. Whenever they show up I buy a feck load as they always sell out so quickly.

I would love to know where to get them in Ireland on a regular basis.

    Willing to travel.......

The ones in the Asian Market on Middle Abbey are the MS Traditional Pork Scratchings (19 picture on your list).
They are the hard ones with the fat on them.
Hope its what your looking for.

Pretty much every pub in the UK does 'em. When I was living in Manchester I had a mate who'd have a pack every time we were out - He'd try force them on me. I did try one once and near enough vomited; It was a big gooey ball of fat.

So yeah, I'm not a fan.

Oh, and on topic - I don't know where you can get them.

Dealz (the Irish arm of poundland) sell a few varieties, a hard type in gold multipacks and a fluffier type in blue and white bags. I've been happily munching since they opened in Cork.

This makes me think of some sort of concoction covered in pigs' hairs.

    I feel kinda ill :o

    Bacon Fries?
    Completely different.
They are pork crackling - roast or fried strips of pig skin as opposed to Bacon Fries which are fried corn based snacks with bacon "flavourings" - usually vegetarian friendly.

Tried Dealz in Cork on Friday, no sign. I presume these are over by the crisps and peanuts? Or are they plonked on an aisle-end display or something?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,477 ✭✭✭Hootanany

Omni in Dublin not selling them either. :(

My husband loves pork scratchings but prefers the ones from the butchers in the UK and buys them whenever he's over there but settles for the ones from Dealz in Omni while he's waiting

I dunno if it's any good to you but JCs in swords have had pork scratchings for the last two weeks anyway. Mr. Porky I believe is the brand. They have 3 different bags. I'm not sure of the difference but you seem like a bit of a connoisseur so I'm sure you'll know what you want.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,477 ✭✭✭Hootanany

On my way to Swords cheers:D

Pork scratchings are actually a good snack if you're on a low-carb diet. I was up in Omni yesterday and never thought to look in Dealz. :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,321 ✭✭✭sham69

Dealz in the ilac centre in dublin have them.
I try not to buy too many of them but I think its a 6 pack for 1.49
I used to order the mr porky ones from amazon, they are the best ones..
They worked out at about 12 euro for a pub card of 20 bags, delish.
The ones in dealz are nice, they do 2 different brands , one is ok and the other is really tasty but can't remember which is which...
    Might grab some today :)
