Front crawl breathing tips?

Anyone have any breathing tips? I tend to swallow water some how at times when breathing, and end up nearly choking. I try breathing in through my mouth, and out through my nose to avoid swallowing water - but I still seem to manage it at times?

Do you find you take the water in your mouth or up your nose more?

If up the nose try completely disassociating your nose from swimming, breath in & out your mouth. If it still happens get a nose clip & this will force you to breath through your mouth eventually it will be come habit.

If you're taking water in your mouth you're either not getting your mouth out of the water enough or you're opening your mouth too early. This could be a timing issue. The 1st thing you should look at is THIS thread from a couple of weeks back. See Kris71's popeye breathing video & see how you get on with that!

It's in my mouth more, I end up kinda choking.. I also feel that when I'm breathing in, I'm not taking in enough air? Practice makes perfect I guess. I'll take a look at it, thanks :)
