First time buyer Deposit on house purchase

    I was purchasing a house through an auctioneer and was advised to make the booking deposit cheque payable to the builder. The builder has gone into examinership. Any advice on where i stand?:mad:

    Did you give the cheque to the acutioneer to hold in trust for the builder? Presume you can ask for it back..........

    was advised to make cheque payable to builder by auctioneer. handed in cheque to auctioneer who gave the cheque to the builder?

    The deposit may be protected if the house was registered with HomeBond or Premier. Ask you solicitor.
