It's been a long while since i was on holidays but i'm going to be visiting Malta in the next few months. Was wondering what the duty free is like nowadays. I remember years ago you used to be able to buy some stuff and sell it on at a profit when home. is that still the case? Duno if i could sell ciggies, but maybe booze? Anybody any experience in this? Even a few bottles of whiskey is it was possible.....

You do realise what you're talking about would be illegal right?

So you're unlikely to get too many people advising you in that regard.

what used to happen is you buy fags, hope to get them through customs and then flog them to your friends & family with a little service fee added.

Even doing this is illegal, but the chance sof getting caught would be vey slim, if however you sold it to the public in general at a market or other location, expect everything to be seized and tax evasion charges.

Duty free limits are pretty strict.

If you're a non-smoker you could probably buy your limit of cigarettes going each way and sell them on to somebody.. but you're not going to make much money doing that :)
(I think the limit is 200 cigarettes each way?)

You can always buy goods overseas but within the EU and bring them back .. Again though, there are limits, so unless you fill a van you're not going to make much money and if you do get caught you'll get fined, so it's probably not worth it ..
