The Irish-Mexican by white wash I reckon, can't see Rhodes with a hope in hell of winning

Rhodes getting his pay day, fare play. Cant see him been competitive though.

Saul Alvarez is super slow for his age .

Think i'm the only one who thinks Rhodes the small chance of an upset. Canelo is a talent no doubt but he's fought smaller lads up till now and Cotto wobbled him badly, if Rhodes lands flush then he could have that chance.

Matthew Hatton, a welter, survived 12 rds with Alvarez. Rhodes is far superior to Hatton. Alvarez is very talented, lovely hitter, combo hitter, but Rhodes can dig and take a dig. I see it as competitve

    agree with you sentiments.

I'd go further and say that I think Canelo is vastly overrated. As soon as he fights even a B-Level guy then he gets beaten. I think he can be out boxed or KO'd.

Rhodes won't be doing either, but it will be competitive.

Canelo is a hypejob. Exposure is imminent.

Rhodes to win by K.O is 9/1, worth a very small dabble.

you weren't taking a look at bettingzone by any chance? :p they are good for sport in general but their picks for boxing are usually poor.

Theres only one outcome for this fight, call me a cynical f*cker but theres no way a ticket seller and local hero like Alvarez is gunna lose in Mexico.

He will be exposed however when he has to step it up against better oppostion.

No i just got it off Paddypower is all, i take it that's their pick?

Yeah totally agree that Alvarez can't lose this in his home town but Rhodes is capable of rocking him.

They picked Rhodes at 9/1 to win by KO/TKO or DQ

I just don't think Rhodes has it in him to be honest, although he has up to middleweight and has experience of being in battles. I just don't see it though

Thats not to say I rate Alvarez either, just don't think Rhodes is the man to expose him.

Should be on there after a while.

Brilliant KO by Adrien Broner there.

    Depressing enough. :(

Was hoping for a lot more from Rhodes. Although that was wishful thinking.

Rhodes was outclassed form start to finish.Didnt expect him to win but I thought he might have troubled Alvarez a bit.

Alverez impressed me. He's considered a hype job but he's only a kid.
He throws tidy combinations, moves well, has fairly fast hands and is reasonably elusive. He's only going to get stronger and better. I'd say he'll turn into a good fighter

Glad to see I'm not the only one who rates Alvarez.

I think he's the real deal. He has a remarkably mature style for someone so young. Very well balanced, beautiful combination puncher, very accurate, composed, good handspeed (Wild Dogger's comment earlier is very puzzling), hard hitter, good defence and he certainly looks very strong physically.

I mentioned before how the first round versus Cotto showed to me (a) how good his chin is and (b) how cool he is under pressure. He was throwing a left hook cum uppercut and got caught by a left hook, thereby creating the classic 'double power' effect. He legs dipped badly, but he didn't go down, he took two heavy rights flush immediately after but slipped and slid his way past virtually everything Cotto threw at him in the immedieate aftermath. Needless to say the commentators got into a big tizzy, but in my mind bar the initial hook he didn't seem in any major trouble at all.

Anyway I look forward to seeing him in bigger fights. And winning. He's good and getting better.

i really like alverez. i know he is flawed but he brings big strong fast punches to the table and like it has been mentioned above he is still only a kid!

now rhodes on the other side is a proper hype job. ricky hatton saying during the week he has the physical abililty to hurt alverez. didnt throw enough punches at all to hurt him in my opinion. im aware that was prob to talk the fight up a bit. now i liked rhodes at domestic level in england, he destroyed jamie moore and showed heart in that fight to go toe to toe with moore in moores style of fighting but showed nothing against alverez.

I think we saw a fully focused Alvarez in the ring the other night. I read his training was unbelievable for this one, he was up in Big Bear sparring against the Middleweight Golovkin and they were both going for it big time. Against Hatton he wasn't the same fighter as he was very poor defensively and looked a bit sluggish.
He looked so strong in this one, his accuracy was superb and that's whats going to make him the next superstar imo. It was also interesting to see how elusive he was, Rhodes couldn't catch him with combinations.

very fair comments boourns. where did u read about his training camp?

    This.

Alvarez is deff going in the right direction and in a year or two he will be the real deal.

Can't remember his name but a writer for The Ring put it up on the website, it could be still on there if you can go through the old stuff. He's a big fan of Golovkin so he was hugely impressed with Alvarez being able to handle him even though Golovkin was a weight above.
