Krakow airport to Krakow city centre - train / bus ?

    Hi

I'm off to Krakow next week, and am just wondering if any one has any advice or suggestions on the options to get from the airport to the city centre.

I think there is a train service, with a transfer bus from the airport itself, and am wondering about where you get tickets, and do they have ticket machines with english language options ?

Or are buses from the airport easier to get ? Any things to watch out for, or be aware of in advance (exact change required or anything like that).

Would be very grateful for any advice from anyone who has suggestions.

    Thanks . Mike :)

The train station is about 300m from the terminal (maybe a bit longer, I just remember there was a bus to it and we waited and when we took it we couldn't believe how short it was and walked when we were coming back). Can't remember how much it was but quite cheap, you just bought the tickets from somebody on the train.

there is a bus outside the main arrivals door to the train platform and you can buy your tickets on the train as there is a machine on the train and yes there is an english language option, i forget how much it cost, we only got the train from krakow to the airport so maybe you can buy tickets in the airport too

btw the train station in krakow is a bit of a walk from the main square maybe 10mins, even though it doesn't look that far on the map

The last time I was in Kraków, a couple of years ago, tickets cost 10 PLN (about €2.50). You can buy them from the machine or the conductor on board. Exact change is not required but the machine will not accept large notes (above 20 PLN).

The train station is right beside Galeria Krakowska. I can't see how it would take ten minutes to walk from the Rynek.

If you have ladies in your party, the train can sometimes have a rather large gap between it and the platform, so skirts might be a problem.

If you intend taking a taxi, do NOT take any of the guys you see to your left when you come out of the station. Instead, go through the Galeria Krakowska shopping centre and take a taxi from the official rank in there.
