Lead welding

    Hi all ,
    I want to do a lead welding course anybody know of someone that would show the tricks of the trade , im a roofer and would like to manufacter lead roofing aprons and special flashings . Pms welcomed . :D

    God your going back a bit there. Plumbers used to do it years ago you might try and google it. A specialist might be found that way. They dont even do it as part of the apprenticeship anymore.

    Lead welding is done using Lead, while solder is an alloy of Lead and Tin, with Lead welding you need the same melting points.

    Soldering differs from welding in that the workpieces are not melted.

    This is how I understand it as well.

    I was on one of the last FAS Plumbing block releases that had to do lead welding and roof flashing.

    It was surprisingly easy, cut strips of lead, scrape them clean, fire up the oxy acetylene torch and away you go.

    you are confusing yourself

    lead is melted together so it's welding ,

    copper pipes are not melted ,that's soldering

    so lead is welded
