    Is 3G switched on?

If not go to: settings -> general -> network -> enable 3G

After that I'm not sure if there's anything they can do.

    Hi

3 have a forum here on the Biz, Talk To, Three with a rep answering questions, it will be the best place to ask. Make sure that you report the problem to the 3 support line, make a couple of follow up calls to get it solve ASAP, keep note of dates, times, ticket numbers and rep you talk to, Also go back to shop and explain your problem. I think I heard before if you have coverage problems (not sure if no 3G coverage is also included) you can get out of contract but you will need to return the phone, read T&C's as you might only a few days/weeks to avail to it.

Search on the Mobiles & PDAs and 3 sections in Boards as other people might have asked the same questions before.

If no luck maybe Comreg can help or advice

Three's iPhone handsets are forced to have 3G enabled by default, you can't change this.

Sounds like you're too far from your nearest mast, or the nearest mast could be heavily congested - or both.
If you go Settings > Carrier - does 3(3G) appear in the list when you are at home?

Well it has to stop somewhere........if you're only gettin the 3, there isn't a 3G signal there. 3 tech support should be able to confirm it.

Three are probably the worst company I have ever had the misfortune to deal with.
There customer service is beyond pitiful. They managed to feck up my direct debit and blame me and then ring me on Sunday about a zillion times demanding payment.
I had a phone with them last year and when I left I suggested they might as well offer unlimited data as you cant access it most of the time. Hey Presto! All you can eat data - Don't be fooled. There is practically zero coverage. |I guarantee you will find it almost impossible to use over 1GB of data per month because you won't be able to access any data coverage except GPRS which is about as good as morse code.
All your GPS based apps will not work with 3 - jogging apps, sat nav etc. forget it.
The amount of dropped calls for me average 1 every per day easily. I used to get all my voice messages about an hour after they were left. It cost me jobs.
I know it is so damn tempting to get the iPhone 4 or the Galaxy S 2 for free and sign up to a 24 month contract at €40 per month. Its sound too good to be true - Thats because it is.
Im looking at their Galaxy S 2 offer this morning just wishing it was O2 or Vodafone but I will never forget or forgive them for the misery I had to put up with.
I am writing this in the hope I might save people from months of misery and waiting on hold on their customer ;'service' line.

They sent me a txt last nite to say that the problem was fixed. So i get out the phone thinking..brilliant but no its still the same.

Rang them again this morn and "the matter has been escalated to the highest level" and ill receive a call very soon.

Ive set my own deadline of the end of this week and im cancelling my direct debit and they can stick it:mad:

Press and hold the power and home button until the slider appears.

Hey just wondering did you have any joy after? I afraid im stuck in your position now. Got the iphone on 3 last week. Under settings and carrier cant pick up 3g...very occasionally it appears and then is gone in a flash! I usually have only one bar of signal and cant make calls on this. The rest of the time its "searching" or has "no service". its a pile of ****e!!! Went to carphone warehouse to hand it back only to be told to call three to get lack of service confirmed. Took me 20 minutes and a heap of dropped calls just to get through. They told me to reset the network connections and try it for another day....ah here, what a load of BULL!! SOoooooooooooooo annoyed!

No nothing has been done yet and TBH i'm not really expecting a good outcome. Was told by them that their Network Team would get back to me in 24/48 hrs but that was THREE wks ago.
They said that as i had reported the issue within the 14 day cooling off period, i could wait and give them a chance to resolve it.
I'm using my WiFi at home but in Jan am getting rid of it so iphone will be going back and ill just cancel the direct debit.
