so ive just finished the frst year of a 4 year course in lyit
i hate the cource so much and most of the lecturers are just jokes
i failed half of the exams and i cant really be bothered going back

so im thinking of taking a year off and re applying for a different cource

my question is because my cource is a level 8 can i apply for a lvel 7 cource and not have to pay fees?

oh one last thing it is so stupid how young people are expected to pick cources not having a clue what theyre about

If you repeat first year (even in Level 7) unfortunately you'll have to pay fees. Do you hate the college or the course? If it's the course, then perhaps consider transferring to another college - they could accept you to the second year of the course. If you have a tutor or mentor or a Students' Union, they might be able to advise you further.

I did a level 8 for a year, dropped out and did a level 7 this year. I paid no fees and got the whole grant, as well as getting to keep any grant money I got the year before. :)

Only do it if you are really sure about it, I am doing the leaving this year and i totally agree with what you mean about making choices this big this early in life

Ever read the prospectis? go to an open night? and open day? and talk to the people teaching the course?

I went to two open nights in one college before I decided. I still wasn't entirely sure, but atleast I knew exactly what I'd be in for.

I don't believe there is any inadequacy in what the colleges are trying to say about the courses just some people make a leap without looking. I'll admit there's a margin even for people who do all that and they end up not happy... I just haven't found em' yet.

I re-read your post.. it sounds like your trolling tbh ;D

I guess any course will be great but don't quit! Albeit there has been a lot of polemic lately about whether young people should bother going to college with a bad economy and few jobs available, dropping out of college will be more expensive than staying at school. Here is the thing, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics reports that in 2009, workers with a Bachelor’s or higher had median weekly earnings of $1,137, compared to $726 for those with some college or an Associate’s degree. High school graduates had median earnings of $626, and high school dropouts had median weekly earnings of $454. Unemployment is also lower for graduates. Therefore, regardless of degree, it is still better to have a college diploma because it is still the best license towards success.
