After almost 2 years of being without a 2CV (silly given my username), I decided it was time to do something about that.

Here she is..... She needs work but hey, it's a 31 year old 2CV :D Picked her up on Wednesday.

Looks decent enough! Is it leaning to the driver's side though? Best of luck (and fun) in putting it back on the road.

Yes it is.... I'll be ordering a brand new chassis for it this summer and rebuild her.

Either that or there is a really fat midget sitting on the drivers side floor.

I thoroughly checked the car before i bought it, and it's 100% midget free :D

Yes the car was rolling slightly when he took the photo and with the steering wheel turned the centrifigal force caused the body to roll and compressed the suspension on the drivers side thus giving the impression that a midget jumped on the drivers side....

Well thats my reasoning after a few drinks!! hic!

I still dont know:).....maybe early 80s.....definitely sometime in the 80s. Definitely not 1948 or anytime after that....unless ex-pats or immigrants at the time bought them new abroad to bring them over here - see picture above - maybe related to someone lecturing in TCD at the time. The only new citroens sold here during that time would have been ID/DS, Traction Avant or GS. Anything else must have been a private import...just a wild guess,...cant find anything online....:(

I had a quick look online as well.. Couldn't find anything either. I'll have to investigate further.

All i can say is, i checked the car the paperwork seems to match the car.

.........I think they were mainly Citroen Diane's before that. I seem to recall though that there were a few knocking around before the Charleston came along ! There was a "Dolly" too.

Well the Charleston was launched in 1982, and if i'm not mistaken the Dolly wasn't launched till 1986.

The Dyanes were defo here before 1982... I once owned a 1979 Waterford reg Dyane :-)

What's the reg of the 2cv?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,407 ✭✭✭G Luxel

I forgot about the Dyane....launched in 1968...so came here sometime in the late 70s...The army had some Mehari's that were LHD and one or two of them still survive. A neighbour of mine had an Ami 8 but I cant remember the numberplate, I think it was imported around 1979. I did see 2 other Ami estates around co. waterford around the early 80s....but the price lists by the SIMI in the late 60s/early 70s dont list any of the above,,only the DS and the GS.:)
