Is it still 'cool' to wear trainers with formal trousers, and if so what's the story with colour combining with the trouser and shirt? Im tired of wearing shoes shirt and tie to weddings, wana funk it up....a tad.

Google images isnt helping at all.

    Any help?

It can look okay however now everybody is doing it its not any more!
Same as the purple shirts - 2 weddings last weekend and every second guy had a purple shirt and tie on!

 No....just no. Sorry OP you asked if it was cool. IMHO its not and looks awful with a lovely suit.Nothin better than a gorgeous guy in a proper suit and coordinated shoes.

No, it's not cool (or very handsome) at all. Sorry :o

Normally I'd tell people to wear what ever they like, as the "in" fashion may not suit everyone anyway... But if it's for a wedding I'd recommend you to keep it neat and proper. No experimenting with weird shoes ;)

    I totally forgot to add:

What you can and can't wear comes down to the dress code in the invitation.

Not all weddings are that formal. On some weddings I've been to, you're alright wearing a shirt in a colour of your choice and any dress pants. Nice and bright like that. However should still keep to neat dress shoes :)

I'm going to go against the grain here, but I like the look!
Then again, I don't go for guys in suits ;) If you're a little rock 'n' roll you can pull it off.
It can look nice if you pair a suit with a clean pair of converse. Either wear black ones, or match the colour of them to your tie.
If you like it, go for it!

It's a definite fashion faux pas, and for a wedding it would be bad, so I would not recommend it. You are looking for a new take on the suit!

How about a skinny suit?! They are, in my opinion, different and stylish.

As in the photograph, skinny trousers with boots and a polo jumper, but you could have a classy shirt instead.

The tip I would give is, keep it neat, keep the lines clean and you won't go wrong!

    Good Luck :)

Thats the thing, i love clean lines and a nice smart skinny'ish suit with a fitted shirt is what i usually go for. But i just seen someone wearing converse with slacks and a shirt and i thought it looked kinda nice. Hmmm maybe just stick to what i do best so.

Any tips on shops to visit in Dublin city centre for nice fitted shirts?

Buy a new shirt or "cooler" dress shoes ;)

It seems to me you like what you wear already, but you'd like to make a change, some sort of renewal. So why don't you go shopping and see if you could find something new? :)
It doesn't have to be a massive change (like sneekers for a wedding), you may find something smart-looking but smart-looking in a new and interesting way. Ask for help when you're in the shop, let them know what you would like to chanage - and trust your own judgement as well. You seem like a stylish man :)

Yea, looks like a trip into town is in order so. Maybe a new watch will cure my ailment for something cooler :)

I think it can be nice for day-to-day wear, but really naff at a wedding. You still don't have to wear conventional boring shoes though - there must be some cool shoes out there!
