    and this costs 30 a month with unlimited usage

    It's most certainly not unlimited, so read the fine print there. Meteor's limits are either 20GB or 30GB, depending on your contract and rate. The charges for going over the limit are extremely punitive too.
    only thing is i have to buy a wireless adapter for xbox to go live.

    3G internet is not suited to gaming. Latency is a major issue, and can not be resolved. A wifi connection can suffer interference too, which may effect gaming even more.

    That can change in the blink of an eye. There's no telling how long this may last.

    They say unlimited, but it is not. There is a definite limit there.

    The "unlimited" mobile internet add-on is limited to 10GB per month. You are charged for usage outside of 10GB.

    550kps is not the same as 5.50Mbps

    So which it :confused:

    550Kbps = 0.55Mbps = 0.07MBps

    Coms speeds are nearly always measured in the smaller unit the bit.

    Small b = bits

    Big B = Bytes

    8bits=1Byte

    if u ask me that is brilliant than paying 50 odd euro for eircom ****e.also i get unlimited usage if i sign my iphone over to bill pay for 20 a month.so my total is 40 a month..and works on my xbox without any lag issues so if u want good bb look into meteor as u can try it for free for 7 days.

    Your Meteor connection is entirely normal, same as mine, what other members are trying to warn you about is that there is no such thing as 'unlimited' access with Meteor, using the midband\mobile network, at the moment.

    Keep an eye on your bandwidth use, otherwise you'll get one hell of a nasty shock (€€€€€) when your next bill is due.

    Thats grand, if it was me I still wouldn't swap it for a fixed line half that speed. Its good today and could be very good for a long time but if Meteor try to increase their market share with some "Unlimited at half of nothing" mobile offer they won't be putting up more masts to keep your speed up so that very nice 4.44Mbps has far more chance of going down rather than up.

    If you think its a good offer then so will other people and they'll all be sharing that up to xxMbps bandwidth with you.

    You're the first person I've heard of who's happy with Meteor's Mobile Broadband service. I had an absolutely horrible experience with them.

    I live in a heavily populated part of Dublin and most of the time I was getting no better than a weak (one bar signal strength) 2G signal.

    Meteor is a great Mobile Broadband provider.

    1397499529.png

    I used to get over 6MB/s at my old address. Only 3 bars of 3G signal where I am now.

    However i've never heard of them offering an "Unlimited" plan for their broadband. My only problem with them is their 30GB limit is pretty low.

    Three now offer 60GB but I don't want them as a provider from past experience.

    3 have become so awfully slow this past week or so with all there unlimited data offers their network used to be so fast here not anymore tough:rolleyes::rolleyes:

    I was pretty content with meteor payg midband and getting speeds like the one above most of the time if not all of the time, but I swapped to 3 bill pay to get the 3g router and 30gGB data allowance (as aposed to meteors 7.5GB a month) so when the contract is up in a few months ill throw a meteor bill sim in the router. I seem to get a better meteor service than 3 here... In saying that the 3 service isn't that bad here either, but the router is on the roof :| ....pings usually about 70-90ms, lowest speed is about 1.5Mb, highest about 5Mb and uploads usually over 1.5Mb

    Anyways, watch the data limits with your brand spanking new broa mid-band service

    + 3's service is not getting helped with them offering free contracted iphones to every tom dick and harry, then extending the offer... they're jam packing their network. I most definitely will swap to meteor bill after 3's contract is up 30GB a month is grand for me at least
