Firstly I am not looking for advice on an injury but where should I go to get advice on this. baf04b135909412.jpg This is a picture of a runner I use most days but don't run in. I have them about a year. I have never ran in them. Of the 3 pairs I have had in the last year they all get a hole in the exact same spot on the right shoe as shown in the picture. I have flat feet and have good support runners (Asics Men's Gel Foundation 9 (2E) White/Lightning/Royal Trainer T0C1N0193 11 UK) as suggested to me in John Buckley's in Cork. I did the 1/2 in Cork on Monday and my right knee wasn't great before or after it. I think its the way I am dragging my foot. I think I swing my foot in an outwards arch at the end of my stride and then it comes back in and hits the ground so hence why the shoe is worn at this corner only on the right shoe is getting worn. I also think this is making me use a lot more energy when running than I need to be. So is there anywhere in Ireland or UK I can get myself filmed on a treadmill while running and they can recommend corrective action. I am going to a physio and he saw it last week but doesn't think its much. People recommend getting it checked in a sports shop but as they have a vested interest in peddling runners its not what I am interested in. Based in Cork, willing to travel. Is there anyone in the running field that could help me with this. Looking for a professional.

Hi I know you dont want advice but the main reason you get a hole in your runner is because you are not pushing off on your big toe when you are walking around. If you push off on the ball of the foot your big toe pushes up into the top of the runner and gradually wears it away. When you WALK think of striking on your heel and continuing forward to push off on the soft pad of your big toe to propel you forward.

Its against the charter to ask for advise and I really want to get it looked at professionally. Basically one leg is shorter than the other and all my shoes get worn down like this. My father has the exact same issue. I know that I am not running straight and I have tried technique to fix it. I think I need an aid of some kind as my knee is only going to get worse. I am kind of looking for this guy X is excellent. He will film you running and suggest and give advice to improve your posture etc. when one leg is shorter than the other. I have been dragging my feet since I was in school so much so that I even had a nickname because of it. Now that I am trying to take running more seriously I need to get this sorted. If there is a book on this that can be recommended etc would be great so I can find out more information. Thanks for your help.

If you're thinking about inserts for your shoes I found Dave Kingston at LCBL in Maynooth to be excellent. It is a long way to travel though especially as you may have to make several trips. He has got video analysis tools I think although he never used them on me. I did know what was wrong with me though - just had struggled to find someone who knew how to help.

I haven't used them myself but I've heard really good things about him esp regarding leg length issues. Not sure about the video equipment though but I suppose you could phone and check. HTH

Looks like the hole is in the toe of the shoe, nothing unusual for asics shoes. You can get a gait anslysis from these guys and they recommend the proper pair of shoe for you, and not the most expensive. I've only heard good about this shop:
