Buying 2005 Nissan Micra SX 1L. Issues?

Hi, I am in the process of buying a 2005 Nissan Micra - 60k km on the clock but has no service history, four good tyres, NCT until 2013 so seems ok. I had the old style Micra before - unbelieveably reliable but some say this Micra has a lot of problems... anyone got experience of them? Also looking at a Skoda Fabia 2005 60k miles - another tells me these aren't great cause they only have three cylinders or something. Again what's the concensus? Looking at paying about 3 to 3.5 k for Micra and around 4-4.2k for Fabia. Good or no? Thanks for all replies in advance.

I wouldn't touch a car without a service history tbh.

as above, needs service history. How are you sure the mileage is accurate.
Is there not receipts with the car?

Whats to say it never had anything but an oil top up through it.

    Id walk away.

Thanks for the replies. I suppose you are never really sure of the mileage at all these days? I am getting my mechanic to have a look over it so he will have a know what kind of nick engine is in... more worried about someone saying to me that they have a lot of electrical problems - probs with central locking etc??

On the mileage thing - was thinking it would make a lot of sense for the second hand car market if a proper definite reading and recording of mileage and mileage at previous test was made at every NCT and printed onto the certificate. Would cut out the clocking to some extent no?

That Micra isn't a patch on the previous models for reliability. I'd go for a Fiesta instead.
