Auris VRT question

    I had a Toyota Auris 08 1.4 petrol which I sold for €10,500

I am going to buy a 2.0 D-4D 2008 from the uk for around £7000 (€7870) and pay the VRT. Now, my question is: Why is the SR variant €2294, and the TR €2777? With the SR being the higher spec? Both based on a 2008 @ 40000 miles. It doesn't make any sense, and, is really not giving me an accurate measure.

what are the omsps for the 2 cars, same mileage and age

SR omsp 23414 VRT is 2294
TR omsp 22846 VRT is 2777

So the more it cost new, the less the VRT?

Are they in the same tax and vrt band?

There are many examples of lesser cars costing more in the system.

Also aren't those omsps the new price? There should be depreciation and a net omsp for todays valuation

The depreciation for the 2 vehicle have different codes, so are giving different percentages, the TR has a depreciation of 24% while the SR version has a depreciation of 51%. The current OMSP for the SR is 6000 cheaper than the TR version. Thats why you are coming up with the difference. It doesn't really make sense. Also the emissions are different (138 - 16% VRTfor the TR, and 144 - 20% VRT for the SR) even though the engines are the same. Maybe there are some variants that have higher CO2 emissions!

Buy the SR and move on.

Or buy the more expensive one, pay the vrt and then appeal it on the point highlighted above.

The bigger question here is... why the hell are you buying a second Auris? Didn't you learn from the first one?

Why what's wrong with them? I've never had any bother....you?

For me, the lack of any decent models here in Ireland is a joke. 2009 2.0 D-4D 130bhp for £7.5k vs 2009 €16,500k for a 1.4 Luna 90bhp. C'mon, Get with the program. No wonder we cant sell any ****ing cars on the second hand market now.

They're muck. Worst Toyota in years, and soundly beaten by probably every other car in that class. Interior is not poor, it's shocking. Monkeys would do better. People on here love to slag the Avensis for having a horrible interior, but in actual fact the Avensis interior is fine. On par with the rest of it's class, give or take a few exceptions. But the Auris is an absolute disgrace for a brand like Toyota, especially given that its actually more expensive than the normally dearest in class Golf.

I have a love/hate relationship with the Auris. Its the interior that finishes it for me and also the horrible paddy spec models.

Are they still coming new without aircon?

I test drove a few before and the rough road suspension the Irish models are fitted with it makes the handling a joke when compared back to back with a UK model.

I don't know why they insist fitting it as it really makes the car horrid

I know ts one less thing to go wrong but it shows you the buyer profile.

I mean who the hell buys a car nowadays without it. I was talking to a guy who is a manager in the plant where they are built and he keeps asking why the Irish ones have such odd specs including rough road suspension, no aircon, steel wheels and plastic steering wheels. There were other things too but I can't remember them all.

    Its shocking really.

I test drove a nice 3 door one up the north. It was well able to move and the handling wasn't bad
