    Hey all,

I need some ideas for a fun training session for my team. We've been doing okish lately, had a dodgy result at the weekend, we won but just about and the squad is becoming a bit disheartened with performances so I've decided to run a fun training session, something light hearted.

Any suggestions as to what that might encompass?

    Senior team btw

    Hey all,

A couple of ideas would be:

*Piggy back sprints, which helps build team bonding.

*one player holds another players shoulders on the ground. The player on the ground has to get up while the player on top has to hold him down. When he breaks free, he has to sprint 10 yards. Again, great for team bonding.

*At the end of the session, have all players lie on the ground. have the trainer talk to them and every time he says a colour, the players have to sprint. Last one in the sprint has to do 20 sit ups/ press ups. Coach has to be smart though and make this fun.

*During the game, instead of playing soccer, a variation of Gaelic Football.... i.e. only handpassing allowed. No kicking.

*Bring a rugby ball and play tag rugby for the game instead of soccer too.

*Pair off in 2's and do make the team leapfrog over each other, the whole way across the pitch. Fun, and great for fitness.

*Buy a small ball (size 1) and use that during the game in training. Something different, and something fun.

That's all I can think of right now.

A lot of them ideas have been adapted from hurling training sessions that I've been involved in and all have worked great.

As mentioned above 15 minutes of handball at the end start is always good to get lads laughing.

As above, bit of olympic hand ball is a good way to get everyone up and about.

Also break into groups of 4 or 5 and play 2 touch keepie uppie. Whoever gives a hospital pass or lets the ball drop gets 5 press-ups. Bit of a laugh and gets everyone concentrating with a bit of banter at the same time.

Finish off a session with a crossbar challenge
