Why is Israel expanding into settlements?

    Is it because they want a completely Jewish State from the Med to the Jordan and from the Litani River (Lebanon) to the Red Sea? Or is it purely for other reasons that I can't grasp?

    The way the settlements are spread out throughout the West Bank, it is blatently obvious that the Israelis are killing off any hope of a future Palestinian state.
    And to try and get 300/400,000 settlers to leave the West Bank would be near an impossible task.
